SPRING 2008 NEWSLETTERLHA President’s Letter
Dear Landowners and LHA Members,
Spring is right around the corner. It is time for everyone to start planning which events and functions they will attend this season. I have already received many calls and emails to see when our Spring Poker Run is going to be! Let me start by saying that we had a great Christmas party last December. We had a remarkable turnout with approximately seventy guests. It was a very diverse group with many new members attending as well as some founding members of LHA. We were proud to honor Adam Rose and Peter Quinlan for their generosity in allowing an LHA trail to go through their property. Not only do they allow us to use the trail, they also cleaned it up for us last year! A great time was had by all. Many thanks to the Waccabuc Country Club for having us. Please mark your calendars!! I am proud to announce that May 18th, 2008 will be the 2nd Annual LHA SPRING POKER RUN! We will all meet at the Lewisboro Town Park located in South Salem, NY. Teams comprised of two or three riders will be sent out at intervals to ride a marked trail. There will be five stopping points along the way where each team will pick up one playing card. Upon completion of the ride each team will have obtained a “poker hand”. The team with the best hand wins. Awards will be presented. This will be a great starter ride and depending on your pace, should take about one hour to complete. It will give riders a chance to see some of the other Lewisboro Horsemen’s trails as well! This is not a race and speed will be penalized! We hope this will be a ride suitable for first time pacers and also for veterans, but more than anything, an excuse for horse people of all backgrounds to get together and just enjoy the sport of riding! Entry forms are included in this newsletter. Please sign up early so we can get an idea of the number of people attending. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! If you have a couple of hours you could donate, it would really help to make the event a success. Please see the attached sheet to register and to volunteer. It should be a really fun day! We have a great group of hardworking members, including new, fresh, motivated members that really want to see the Lewisboro Horsemen’s Trail system succeed and expand. We are ready to get out and get the LHA Trails in tip top shape. I hope to see many of you at our Trail Clean Up Day! Thanks again to all of the landowners for giving us the privilege of going through their property. If you know of any newcomers to the area, please tell them about LHA. Our organization will only benefit from more new members. Thank you for making this community such a special place to live. See you out on the trails! Best Regards,
Callie Kuntz-Bauer
